We are now outside the original scope, and the original scope was optimistic to begin with.

It started as a quick stop, a small repair, or a simple plan. Then additional trips became necessary. New tools entered the conversation. Someone used the phrase “while we’re at it,” and the situation never recovered.

This was supposed to be easy.

Every project has a moment when it quietly leaves the map. A backyard repair becomes a weekend. A road trip becomes a detour. A simple task develops supporting tasks of its own.

The work is no longer related to the reason everyone showed up.

That seems important.

By this stage, nobody remembers the starting point with complete accuracy. The only clear fact is that the current situation bears little resemblance to the original plan.

Progress continues.
